I didn't finish either Henry Flesh's Massage or David Rakoff's Half Empty: Half Empty was hilarious but I was taking too long to read it and it needed to go back to the library because of a reserve list. Massage, however, just got to be too heavy.

I got really sick of how the main character Randy let things just happen. It seemed whenever he was around anyone, he - as a person - would just disappear. He wouldn't speak. He couldn't say what he wanted, and I understood that was part of his character - he'd basically been pimped out to his father's employer BY his father as a kid - but it finally got to be annoying.

Maybe someday when I'm feeling too happy, I'll pick it up again and try to bring myself down, but even the well-written sex scenes throughout the book were barely worth the effort of reading the whole thing. I put it down with maybe another 100 pages to go.
