Okay, I've wanted to say this for a long time:

For the first 15 years of his writing life, Gregory Maguire wrote children's books. Wicked was his first adult novel. Since then, he's published another 13 children's novels.

Since Wicked, he's published roughly one adult novel every two years. There have been seven adult novels, but Lost is only one of two (and it was the first one) not set in a fairy-tale world.

I think it's better than any of his "Wicked Years" novels, and although it is a deeply flawed novel I think it is his most adult work ever. And it is utterly ignored.
